Hello everyone.

Hard to believe that I actually am doing the cliched "asking for a friend" thing but here goes...

I'm originally from San Antonio and I've never lived in the Metroplex, but I was contacted by a friend who moved to Dallas last year. My friend asked me if I knew any civil lawyers in Dallas. I don't know any but I thought it could not hurt to create a thread in this forum on Texags and see if the Metroplex Aggie Network could get me a recommendation or two.

I have a bit of information regarding why my friend wants to speak with a lawyer but I did not want to put any of it in this post.

Thanks to you all in advance for any recommendations you can give me!

"Civil lawyer" can mean a lot of things. We would need to know what kind of case it is generally to make a recommendation.

Would highly, highly recommend at least narrowing down the field a little. Real estate, contract law, employment, tort, injury, etc. My father practiced for 40+ years and was an administrative partner at a biglaw group I can probably get you a great recommendation, but need a few more details.

You need to significantly narrow down the need. Asking for a civil lawyer narrows it down very little.

Thank you for the replies.

So all that I know about the situation is that my friend, who is from Jordan, married an American man last year. Unfortunately her husband has a jealous/unstable ex-wife who has been harassing him and his extended family. I'm told that the ex-wife SWAT-ted them recently and they have gone to the Dallas police and the FBI to file complaints.

When my friend asked me if I knew any civil lawyer in Dallas my initial thought was that they wanted help with getting a restraining order placed on the ex-wife, but my friend says that the ex-wife has filed a lawsuit against her husband. She did not tell me what her husband is being sued for. All she says is that her husband needs a lawyer to defend against whatever this civil suit is.

That's all that I know at this point. Thank you in advance for your advice

I am a lawyer, but I am not always civil. *ba dun dun*

It sounds like your friend may need a family law attorney. That would be me. If it is a case in Dallas, then I can give some names of good Dallas family law attorneys, but I don't venture to Dallas often enough to know the judicial personalities.

If you wanted, you could go here: https://courtsportal.dallascounty.org/DALLASPROD and search your friend's husband's name to try and find what was filed against him. Then you could at least provide the causes of action being asserted or a quick gist of the suit and it would be easier to provide a recommendation.
