I planted some Indian blanket wildflowers last fall. They survived the below 10 temperatures we had over the winter and are thriving right now.

Any natives are great, especially those kind to pollinators. What is pretty for the bees and butterflies would be pretty for you too! Frostweed and milkweed particularly good and pretty too.

Paint Brush are expensive and difficult, might be better to get a mix of wildflowers with some Paint Brush in the mix and see what comes up. Then you can add specific things that did well the next year.

The trick to any wild flower is to let them go to seed after they stop blooming, there's at least a month of dead things that look like weeds before you want to clean them out, so plant the in an appropriate place where that's not an issue.
