Downtown Waxahachie has a cool vibe and some really good eateries.

The Crazy Water Hotel out in Mineral Wells is pretty cool. Several places to eat in walking distance. Spa for the wife. Not far if you're west of DFW airport. Don't know that it would be worth it if you were way out in Rockwall or far east DFW.

Also in Mineral Wells, The old Baker Hotel is being renovated and supposedly done in 2028. When that's finished I would imagine downtown will have even more life.
