We adopted a young female lab mix puppy from a friend in the country about one year ago and since then she has shown a few episodes of food, kennel, and chew toy aggression and has attacked our older Yorkie over these things enough times for me to get really concerned about keeping her. We have mostly worked through food aggression and the kennel thing, but she attacked the Yorkie a few days ago over a rawhide bone to the point she needed stitches. Not sure where she found it as I don't keep them in the house and immediately threw it away. Other than the couple of episodes she has been an incredibly sweet dog and has zero issues in group play, dog parks, day care, etc.

My question is recommendations for a plan here, either through training, finding a foster program, or re-homing her altogether. My first thought is to send her off for training, but I don't really want to spend time/money on it if it's not going to work. Our last dog was a golden who was incredibly sweet to the Yorkie so it's been quite an adjustment. We are in FW.

I would maybe reach out to a rescue group and see if they could offer some advice. They might have worked with a dog that has similar behaviors and could give advice on what could be done.

We adopted our dog from Cane Rosso Rescue and they were incredibly helpful with all things training and adjustment for her.

Good luck. Went through the same exact scenario earlier this year with a lab mix stray we'd adopted. Went to rescues, training, got the vet to prescribe drugs. Nothing worked as she kept attacking the little dog. Rescue organizations would 't touch her.

We had to have her put down. Even the pound told us if we surrendered her, they wouldn't even try to adopt her - they'd just euthanize her.
