I'm looking to replace my front and back porch due to some rotting wood and potentially looking to upgrade to composite wood.

Any recommendations on contractors to do this?

Also curious if anyone has replaced with composite and what are the pluses/minuses of doing so? Current deck is about 10 years old, but I'm certain areas have warped and began rotting, so I'd like to replace with a long lasting one.

I've been told composite requires joists to be closer together because the hot Houston Summers can cause the composite to soften and sag. However, I have composite on the steps I built for my porch that faces west with full sun and the stringers are 24" o/c and they've never sagged.

If you have pets, the composite does feel much hotter to the touch in full sun than wood or concrete, so there's the potential for injury to your pets' feet.

yes it is better to do 12" on center for composite to reduce the chances it will get wavy.
