Trying to help someone who has Parkinsons find a place in Houston similar to place in Bryan https://www.parcattraditions.com/

Any recommendations?

Don't have any personal recs, but I've noticed at least one seniors complex by Constellation Field in Sugar Land that I thought might be a nice location. Be able to putter over to the ballpark, enjoy some relatively quiet greenspace not too far from civilization.

Not sure if they do any Parkinson's specific care but The Forum right there at 610 and I-10 was great for my grandfather both during his hip replacement rehab and during his last couple years.

Doesn't need to be Parkinson's specific. Just need something similar to parc at traditions in Bryan - but in Houston

https://grandliving.com/ In Sugar Land and League City are very nice and new. You can get Independent Living or Assisted Living in your same apartment without moving to a different wing. Memory Care is in same building but segregated from IL. No buy in fee, just monthly rent. Assisted Living fees are additional based on level of required care on 1-5 scale.

I've heard good things about Eagles Trace and The Crossings but no direct knowledge. They both have a large buy in fee that is 90% refunded.

https://www.lifecareservices.com/ Has 4 Houston area locations, no buy in. My folks were in one of these IL apartments and they were great, only moved because assisted living was full and they needed more help. The Delaney at South Shore or Richmond and others in Spring and The Woodlands.

There are several Brookdale communities around Houston. Not as expensive as some other places, but still nice.

Some are independent living with the option to hire assistance on an as-needed basis through on-site staff. Others are the transitional type of place, where you can go from independent to full assisted.

We've had a pretty good experience with them. It's not perfect, but it's also about half the price of some other communities (without being cheap/rundown).

Wow ... that is bad.

Brookdale in SL had four huge generators operating early Tuesday morning after the storm, enough power for everyone to have AC/television/internet.

We had my mother in Spring Cypress Assisted (now Senior) Living from 2019 through 2020.

The facilities were clean/nice/well staffed. She had her own room with small kitchenette (no cooktop/range - Microwave only). The food was pretty good. Sit down restaurant style - order off menu.

There were different areas of care - from general assisted living to a memory care unit.

I know they had backup generators for power loss.

Like most places they are only as good as the staff. Looking at the current staff they are all different now....

Shoot me a DM if you have any questions - Good luck. SW '86

Check out Eagles Trace. It is owned and managed by Erickson Retirement Living which is a large corporation with facilities in many states. My parents have been there 7 years and have been happy. There are progressive levels of care in different buildings, including skilled nursing and memory care in addition to independent living which comprises the majority of the facility.
