Looks like the soros DA won from what I've been reading, although margins are a lot closer than in previous years it seems. Hopefully Kim Ogg can get something moving on the dora investigation before she leaves.
Any other news beyond the judge races?

State rep districts are so gerrymandered the outcome was 100% as expected.

quite a few really bad Democratic judges got the boot last night per my buddy who is a attorney here and has to plead cases in from of them. Also there was a clean sweep of the Appellate Courts for the Republicans which is huge.

On the DA - Sean Teare. I have a friend who is extremely dialed into Republican politics locally and in the state. His father was a long-time state rep. He said Sean Teare is actually ok as the DA - he's a real prosecutor and he hopes not too political.

I have a friend of a friend who works for the Harris County DAs office as a prosecutor and he is pretty conservative. I was asking him about the upcoming election and he had nothing but good things to say about Teare.

The Harris County Republican Party's failure to recruit judicial candidates looks even worse now.

hard to recruit good lawyers to take a pay cut to be a judge, and also the track record was all the Republicans have lost recently.

The TSU educated Democratic lawyers aspire to be judges because they can't make a living in the real world

You mean graduating from a law school ranked #196 in the country doesn't help them be good lawyers? I'm shocked; shocked, I tell you.

Then he should not have run to the left of BLM. I liked him as a prosecutor. Not sure I will like him as a politician.

While I hope some of y'all are right about Teare, there's a reason Ogg got kicked off the Dem plantation and the Soros bucks went to her primary challenger. It could not be made any clearer that if he doesn't play ball with Ellis and the rest of the machine and look the other way at their blatant corruption, he will be primaried in short order.

I know a guy that ran for District Judge 3 times and lost. His wife ran this time and won.

Awkward.

To be fair, was he one of the good sports who agreed to file and help fill out the slate in tough years?

I know Teare personally. He's as good as you're going to realistically get in Harris county that doesn't run as an R.

Knowing several people in the DA's office, or were in the DA's office, I feel like Teare has just done a really good job of making friends with people he's worked with and having their support.

But I think people trying to say he's not liberal are FOS. Maybe not, we'll see. But soros money doesn't seem to go to people running towards the middle of the left.

Pat Lykos left in 2012, so probably a bit late for her to do anything.

It just shows harris county is still the most purple urban county in state and maybe country and why our vote actually does matter here down ballot. So many races were 50/50.

Its really a shame Lina wasn't in this election, she'd probably be out the door if so.

.

I have friends who used to work at the Harris County DA office. And they say the same thing about the newly elected DA. And these friends are lifetime prosecutors.

And every appellate court in Texas had a Republican sweep. Even down in the RGV.
