Talking with my wife earlier and she mentioned she heard they are going to tear it down and rebuild something there like how town and country is with open air shopping? Anyone heard anything similar to this?

I'm all for it. We swung in the other day to do some last minute shopping and my oh my how has it fallen. Felt like I was walking through Compton or the Bronx.

yes, they are supposed to flip it to an outside walking mall. Not sure when.

The mall itself isn't bad I think. But you have a lot of people from north of longpoint that go there mixes in with the spring branch and memorial crowd that makes for some good people watching.

And yeah traffic around that area sucks right now

Is the trend of building outdoor malls in a place where it's gotten than Satan's butthole in the summer simply to keep the shoplifting class from loitering?

It's that time of year when thousandaires come to state they are too good to be around the public. Go f$ck yourself. Never had an issue shopping there

They aren't tearing down the whole mall. It is more of an expansion next to the existing indoor mall footprint. I think the location is just south of the existing mall and on the west side (closest to Gessner). I think there was a part of the mall there previously that they tore down a few years ago.

No I think there's just more potential revenue in a mixed use outdoor complex that has restaurants, bars, entertainment, and retail.

I never go to malls but we frequent City Center to tale the kids to grab a bite or meet friends and have drinks.

This is what they did to bay area mall. It's nice and we've spent our share of time there, but it seems like every mall and/or outlet store is going to the outdoor model. As long as they don't install too many driveway access points, it should stay nice enough.

This is where Sears used to be and possibly more of the parking lot; makes sense and it's like what they did do Baybrook Mall several years ago. Every time I go there business is doing well.

I don't think you've ever walked through Compton or The Bronx, hell even a walmart ITL. Memorial City isn't bad at all; there's even a Sun & Ski there.

I've walked through the Bronx. Never Compton or a Walmart ITL. My point was walking through the mall the other day it was 85% non white. And the majority of the people there weren't very friendly. Just my opinion.

My Lord maybe you should stick to the local feed store in Austin County. Memorial City is one of the nicest malls in the city. While the store selection sucks, it's nowhere near as bad as you're describing. But us Houstonians know that.

Meh, if we're being honest, I hate going out in public these days period. And race/gender/whatever has nothing to do with it.
Whether it's Woodlands or 5th Ward or Bellaire or New Caney, people are just idiots anymore.
From their driving (no one uses a turn signal, and that's the least of it) to their wardrobe (pajamas and Crocs in public, nice) it all sucks.

The fact that so many businesses now have little signs by the door and/or by the cashier station saying 'Threats and verbal abuse will not be tolerated here' says it all.

So I think that I actually AM saying that I'm better than the general public, sorry.

Thank goodness we have Austin County. They can hang out at Memorial or better yet Katy Mills. Take your shopping to Brenham or College Station it's much better and definitely safer.
