Looking to ship a king's cake from a local Houston baker to my brother in VA. Three Brother's does not ship. Anyone have a recommendation for a bakery that ships?
TIA

My boss is from Baton Rouge and brought one in last week. It was amazing.

True story.
A couple of years ago someone at work brought in a King cake. There was enough left over to bring slices home for my wife & son. My son's piece included the baby.
The next day at school they served a King cake. My sixteen year old son's piece includes the baby. He holds it up and proudly exclaims: "Look everyone - I got another baby!"
His teacher shouts back: "I don't ever want to hear those words come out of your mouth again!"

My wife is constantly trying to prove how great Houston is to my family. Thanks for the link too.

Why do you want to ship from a Houston bakery? These are more of a Louisiana thing...

King's Cake is one of the all time overrated food items. The very best are just good.

I feel like a Tres Leches would hit harder on the Houston pride-o-meter than a King Cake, but you would have similar issues with shipment.
Arandas is ass. You should be going to El Bolillo.94chem said:Flaith said:

Tres Leches is the one thing I get from Arandas Bakery that's quality. The rest of it is basically suitable for pre-marathon carb loading. As much as I love Tex-mex, the Mexican dessert ranks only above the Chinese near the bottom of the dessert kingdom.

Y'all are crazy, king cakes are great.
One of my biggest dessert disappointments is trying a concha for the first time. It was literally just plain ass bread with some sugar on top. Don't get me wrong, its not like I need more sugar in my life but for a dessert pastry it was terrible.94chem said:Flaith said:

I thought king cake was just below average, dry wanna-be cinnamon bun until I had three different kinds in the galley of an offshore drilling rig. Not sure where those coonasses got them from, but it was cream cheese, blueberry, and strawberry... almost more like a danish or czech kolache cake.
