If your son is new to golf, highly recommend signing him up for an "Operation 36" program.

My son did 2 rounds/semesters of Operation 36 classes in the fall at Meadowbrook Farms Golf club in Cinco Ranch and loved it. I believe Weston Lakes has an Operation 36 program too.

1 hour group lessons each week to learn and test skills and you also sign up to play 9 hole "matches" on the weekends starting at 25yds from the hole with the goal of 36 stokes or less. Usually want to play a minimum of 2 matches per semester.

When you successfully complete a 9 hole match at a set distance under 36 stokes, you move to further yardage - makes the kids learn how to use all their clubs.
