Please consider looking for your new best friend at the Galveston Island Humane Society this week.

A hoarder had 70 pets in a bus in a local state park. Luckily, she turned them over to the GIHS for new homes.

The vast majority of these pets are dogs and many of them are available for adoption right now.

If you or a friend are thinking of adding to your family, please check these pups out. They all need somebody to be their hero right now. The pups with famous names are from the bus situation.

Also, if you know of somebody who has lost a dog recently please tell them to check to see if their dog at the GIHS or the Houston SPCA.

Several of the rescued dogs have microchips or rabies tags. A few have been recovered by their owners already.

I got my border collie there just over three years ago, he's a wonderful dog, would definitely look there again in the future.

Many of them are being spayed or neutered this week. That might be why not all of them are listed on the web site.
