Found out that Travellers is not renewing our policy (apparently they are pulling out of the market). Insurance agent came back and said some company called Swyfft is the only company they are contracted with that had a quote close to old Travellers policy. Price is 12-13k depending on deductible. Anyone have experience with Swyfft or a recommendation for another company to look into?

We are in Houston (77079) and had Travelers do the same thing to us. After shopping around, we ended up going with Dover Bay Specialty insurance through State Farm. State Farm manages the policy but it is underwritten by Dover Bay (as I understand it). Price was very similar to what we were paying with Travelers.

Good luck, had Swyfft and then they jumped up the second year. Now my new carrier Sagesure, is trying to cancel my policy due to my neighbor's tree branch close to my roof.

I'm with mercury. $3K premium but I don't live in a mansion. ALl the other places I called and got quotes from were either significantly higher due to being told that they had to treat Ft Bend as a coastal county or they were on par with my current coverage but the deductible for a named storm would be 5%

$12-13K and that's close to your old policy?!

I'd call different carriers/brokers....Liere, Statefarm, Goosehead (even though I'm not a huge fan), Matt w/ Diversified Insurance (poster here and who I use)....

Trying to close out a claim with Sagesure from Hurricane Beryl. Overall the experience has been a nightmare. But I kind of assume all insurance companies are with a claim of our size. Sagesure is paying out what I would consider more than fair to get us back to what we had and our policy covered a comparable rental house while we were under construction. My policy did go up 40% when we had to renew while the claim was open so I'll be shopping around when it comes up again.

I had a great experience recently with Eric Jones. He's an Ag. Info below.

I would not go goosehead. Try Liere (college station) or State Farm as well. State Farm was actually competitive and I swore I would never go back to them.

I mean, they did get my homeowners down from $7600 (renewal was due June 2025) to $4200 with another company for the same coverage and deductibles. Also, switched me from Geico to Progressive auto insurance and its saving me $100/month with the same coverages. I guess everyone's experience is different, but it was great for me.

State Farm is competitive for our current home, but just told us they will not cover it when we move and turn it into a rental. They are getting out of Texas for rentals.

We will be going somewhere else.

Edit: we are in Houston 77008, not in FB

Are y'all getting policies with State Farm or through Dover Bay with them? State Farm stopped writing policies in Ft Bend County about 2 years ago.

AAA or Allstate were way cheaper than any of the brokers I spoke with this year.

Interesting. I'm with Travelers in Fort Bend and haven't heard anything. Had Germania when I lived in Harris and absolutely loved them. Unfortunately, they didn't underwrite in Fort Bend.
Can't wait for that letter/call.

I'm in Ft Bend and just got my renewal with Amica and rate increase is 20% with overall premium increase of 28% due to value increase. I had been watching closely each year and last year I think around 10% on rate but this is going to cause me to shop.
