I'm looking for somebody who can install a whole home surge protector, and get recommendations and a quote to do an interlock switch to link my generator to my panel. I've used Wired in the past, and they're OK but seemed a little expensive.

If anyone has any recommendations, I'd love to hear about someone who's done a good job for you personally. I'm in Cypress so Northwest area. Thanks.

Mark was/still is a great guy. He was the TexAgs go-to for years.

It's not hard to. $100 for the device and wire it into a new 2-pole breaker. Plenty of youtube videos.

Not the same but to install a soft start we were getting quotes between $700-900(included $400 soft start). I'm up near The Woodlands. DIY'd it and took about 12 minutes.

I installed soft start on both of my units. My generator running on natural gas will run both, just tested last week.

Did the manual method of 'whole house' to select the circuits.

I'm sure it varies based on your breaker box? He mentioned ours was really old and he had to hunt around for the part he needed that would work with ours. But I paid $450 total, and he got it all done within a week from initial meeting to install.

He also does whole home generator installs and I believe he said he price matches on it?

Edit to add....I'm sure you can DIY a lot cheaper, but my electrical background extends to the few ENTC classes I took 25 years ago. So I was not interested in doing it myself.

We got ours installed just yesterday for $450. It might vary based on what type of breaker box you have? I was expecting closer to $600, so I was happy with the $450 we paid.

Thank you. I believe that the Eaton BR Surge Protector will fit for the Westinghouse panels. They're supposed to be compatible since Eaton purchased the Westinghouse electrical portion. The link here is what I installed in mine. You would need to move the top two breakers on each side down in order to fit the interlock and surge protector. I did both on my own and it wasn't bad. Good news is you have plenty of space and don't have to install a secondary panel.
