We have a referral from our pediatrician but seems like none can see our son before November. What in the world....anyone have a recommendation or aware of one that might be able to see him sooner?
I had this same issue a couple of years ago…3-4 month wait times. Some refused to see me at all. I finally had to ask my dr to give me a recommendation that would actually see me. I'd call the ped back and tell them the situation and ask if they can help.
There is evidently a shortage of endocrinologists in Houston - considering a huge part of their practice is diabetes care, it's not surprising.
I had the same issue looking for a urologist last week through the Methodist system. Nothing available until late August but I didn't want to wait. I called and spoke to a scheduler and they were able to find me an appointment this week with a doctor accepting new patients. I'll just have to drive a little further than I wanted but it's better than waiting.
I don't know if you need a pediatric endocrinologist or just a good endocrinologist. Dr. Jeffrey Brown on dairy Ashford near Memorial is a great endocrinologist, in my opinion. I've been seeing him for years.
My fantastic, now retired, dermatologist recommended me to him. She said he was great.
My son went to an Endo in Sugar Land for years...We used Gunn for a bit, she's with TX Children's but my son has been seeing Dr Carhill in Sugar Land with Tx Physicians for years, decade or more. She's been great.
