Heading into downtown tonight on I-10 for a concert at Jones Hall. I'm currently looking at the Houston TranStar traffic map, which is showing a road closure on 10 from Heights to Hogan St. But then it indicates this total closure is effective from February 1 through the end of the year. If I'm to believe the time frame listed, then this is not an issue for tonight. But then why the heck would it be indicated on the map?

Edit - it helps to actually read the year. It does say February 1, 2025.

So should I find an alternate route? Take I-10 to 610, then come down Memorial into downtown?

Its 2026. Plug in your destination on google maps or waze and drive.

I will say it usually has me taking the HOV and staying to the left to take Old Katy Rd/Westcott or Post Oak Rd down to Memorial and riding that into downtown when heading downtown at this time of day.

I would just take I-10 to Waugh, then Waugh to Washington, and ride that into downtown. I live near Waugh and Washington, and it's a nice easy drive straight to Jones Hall.

I too am going to see Return of the Jedi, tonight!

It a lane closure on the westbound side and the closure of the I-10 east to I-45 north connector. Mainlanes east into downtown are fine.

Thanks for everyone's responses. We took I-10 to Westcott to Memorial to Jones. Now seated and waiting for the show to begin.

They're not always useful for road closures and finding alternate routes. Sometimes they just show no traffic on the freeway - which is technically accurate when everyone has been forced to exit the freeway for total closure.

Well he's coming from BFE so if that's the case would have seen 10 digital signs telling him of the closure.
