I'm looking for a place in Houston that sells squat suits, bench shirts, etc. My son started powerlifting at a small school outside of Houston and they don't have anything that fits him properly. I'd rather buy him decent stuff on my own knowing he's going to use it for the next 4 years.

I've been searching online with no luck - most places that pop up sell gym equipment only. There are a lot of sources online that sell direct, but I'd rather go somewhere in person that can fit him properly.

No idea, but I suggest asking this on the weightlifting thread on the Health and Fitness board.

Ask the coach/school?

He's not going to grow in the next 4 years?

He will, but at 15 (as of today) he's already 6'2" 240# with a size 15 foot. He's going to bulk up some while shedding fat at the same time, which is why I want to go somewhere to get him fitted. He may grow taller, but there are adjustable squat suits and height won't factor into a bench shirt.

We're at a tiny school and the coaches that are currently there inherited everything when they came on board. They're just football coaches that are filling a gap. I don't think any of the current coaches on staff have more than 2-3 years at our school.

Not being rude, but that doesn't exactly sound like the type of program or situation where the best proper fitting gear is going to make or break him.

He wants to do his best and we want that for him. Kids from his school regularly make state meets, regardless of lack of coaching. This is something he enjoys and we're currently looking for an outside trainer for him.

As it stands, he couldn't do a competition if he wanted to because he can't hit proper form/hold points because his gear "bottoms out" for lack of a better term. He can't bring his bench bar all the way to his chest because his current bench shirt binds in the shoulders. The first meet of the year is next week, so I'm trying to knock out this issue. If another pops up, we'll address that at that time. There's no way in hell I'd ever tell my kid to just go in and half ass something when he's giving up his time to participate.

Online is still going to be your best bet. Most let you try stuff on then return it if it doesn't work.

Inzer

Are some good options.

Thanks. I told my son to look at the sizing on what doesn't work so we have a base point. We'll measure and use the sizing charts from Inzer and go from there.

FWIW all of my SBD and A7 stuff is true to size from everything else I wear.
