Wife and I are taking our 7 year old daughter there this weekend (coming from DFW). I haven't been in 20+ years, and don't really remember much about it. We are doing just general admission tickets not knowing how long her attention will last, but do any of yall have recommendations on must sees while there?

My daughter was a tram tour guide there last summer.

She suggests going to guests services as soon as you enter and get your ticket for astronaut training and JSC tour. These are both included in GA. Mission control is an extra $5.

I think the add-ons tend to sell out, so I would suggest booking them on advance online.

We were just there last weekend with our soon to be 7 year old. Great advice on booking your tours as soon as you get there. Honestly, the only part of the tram tour my son really enjoyed was the rocket park portion where he could get out and walk around the Saturn V. He liked the shuttle and the 747, but that you don't need tickets for that. A lot of Space Center Houston is videos and seeing exhibits. There are some interactive portions, but not as many as you might think.

Astronaut training was not avaialble for a reason that escapes me. I just don't know how much a 7 year old would appreciate old mission control, even though it is cool.

Yeah - rocket park and mission control are worth the time. If you have any extra time at all and have an interest in airplanes.... the Lone Star Flight Museum at Ellington is top notch.

Agree with all of this. My kids liked the 747 and rocket park the most. Honestly, I think Space Center Houston could be so much better. It is SPACE for crying out loud.

I don't think the center itself will hold your attention the full day - that's why I mentioned the flight museum at Ellington. We hit both in one day.

If your kid has enough learning and wants to see young latinos drink 24oz beers near a roller coaster and the bay, I have heard of a place in the area where the fun never stops.

If your kid gets bored with Space stuff after a half day at Space Center and you want to do some outdoors hiking or other nature stuff, Armand Bayou Nature Center is a short drive away and has lots of stuff for kids.

San Jacinto Monument while you're in the neighborhood.
