I recommend the heights or shady acres area. There are a lot of bars on W 20th street that are popular for young professionals.

There are a handful of apartments on Memorial Heights Dr and Studemont. Start there.

I would be looking at all the EADO apartments if I was young and worked downtown.

Another vote for Heights.

The old people seem to agree that the young people should live in the Heights. Which means I suspect the correct answer is EaDo.

Where ever you select in any of those areas, expect to have your car broken into/vandalized at least once in the next 365 days.

I'm in my 40's too. 40 feels old anytime I'm with someone in their early 20's.

I have a town home just east of Eado close right off Navigation a block from Ninfa's. My 25 year old son moved in temporarily (job situation) 6 months ago. He's now telling me he loves the area. He and friends walk, or sometimes just uber, to the Astros games, the soccer stadium, and to the bars and restaurants in that area.

Seeing how almost all of us have more years as college graduates than before college graduates, yes we are old. Most of us have kids that are closer to the age we were when we graduated than we are today.

I respect someone trying to crowdsource for an Ag, but most people on these message boards are well past being able to relate to new grads. I think most young professionals live in the heights (and surrounding adjacent hoods) or east end these days. My S-I-L lives in Midtown and I wouldn't recommend it at this time if you can pull of the first 2..

Eado is obviously close, but can be a pain in the ass to get to downtown, and is getting worse. The city seems to be hell bent on cutting off every road that goes from Eado to downtown.....

I lived in Shady Acres for 8 years while I worked downtown. Great area, walking distance to the bar scene on 20th, and about as safe as it gets for inside the loop. We looked at EADO before we moved to Shady Acres, it was much less developed and was advertised as an "up and coming" neighborhood, which really just means that gentrification is in the early phases. EADO could be better now but it was still pretty rough back then.

New grads can't afford the Heights. Unless you want to live w/3 other people.

Funny that this never happened to me while living in less desirable areas of town to avoid paying stupid rent prices. Helps not being afraid of being the token white guy either.

Which is what you should be doing. We all did it.
