Even for West Texas! I thought it was June, not April.

Amen. It's bad for even Lubbock standards. I've never seen the wind blow so much for so many consecutive days and nights. I'll take the humidity.

100+ Heat plus 30-40 mph SUSTAINED windspeeds with gusts to 50+ is kicking the crap out of all the crops. This could be a REALLY long summer.

I am guessing there will have to be a lot of cotton replanted after the past two days. I never remember this kind of wind this late in the year. I thought we were past April.

Looks like Oklahoma's sucking and New Mexico's blowing have reached new heights.

Today is a great day on the South Plains of Texas. Glorious!

The wind has been brutal. I've told the wife she might come home to find all of our belongings in a moving truck!

Final planting dates for insurance (cotton) have come and gone. The southern portion of the South Plains passes final planting dates tomorrow. We're going to see an influx of milo around Lubbock this year.

I've been in the Panhandle all my life except for my time at Aggieland.

This has been some of the worst weather I've seen. It's been windier, hotter, and dustier, but never such a combination of all three for SO FREAKING LONG!

Wonder if this is how it felt in the Dust Bowl....except for the dust being 100 times worse.

In the early sixties, there was a brief period of time when we had some severe dust storms around here.

My grandparents lived about 1 1/2 miles away across a field from us. On Sunday mornings, we'd have to go pick up my grandparents to take them to church because they couldn't see well enough to drive in the dust. We'd be driving down the road and couldn't see the fence posts because of the dust.

I remember being at my grandparent's house and not being able to see anything out the windows because of the dust. My grandmother said that the dust bowl was far worse, but I couldn't imagine how it could be worse.

Two days in a row of no wind! It's been a while since this has happened.
