Mac Thornberry claims to have had principles. If he did, he has lost them entirely.

From Congressman Mac Thornberry's website:
quote:
A former minister in my home church used to say that “Sometimes you have to put aside your principles and do what’s right.” I believe at this extraordinary time passing this flawed bill is the right thing to do.
His former minister is just flat wrong. If your principles are right, setting them aside is always wrong.

I guess we've found out just what "principles" Mac Thornberry has -- NONE.

mac thornberry is by far the most intelligent and sincere man i have ever known.

by posting what you have, you have shown your complete disrespect and lack of knowledge for a fine public servant and the best representative in congress from the state of texas.

in the years he has served, he has always done what was right for you and i and the rest of the panhandle and he has done it without taking kickbacks or playing petty politics.

you should really do your research, meet him, and then make a real decision.

your post reminds me of a saying my mother used to tell me, "ignorance is like a gold tooth, it doesn't show until you open your mouth". well in your case, it was shown when you typed that previous statement.

Is there a third party candidate running against Thornberry? I'd like to vote against him but from the research I've done on the democrat, he'd be just as bad as Thornberry. I may just not vote in that race.

vetachiser, but he voted FOR the bailout and admits that to do it he set aside his principles. the bailout was WRONG. when it mattered most, mac backed down. i have a problem with that.

apparently the entire country set aside their morals for the bailout bill... and i'm glad.

without the bailout bill we would have continued to sink into a recession, fueling speculation and removing all trust in the american banking system. i wish there was a better answer for problem at hand, but their wasn't... thats the basic. it was better for him to do something, than to just stand aside as the financial sector strangles itself to death.

its ridiculous that you select this as the "basis of your vote". mac fought against base realignment and closure in wichita, gained federal funding for panhandle farmers, and scored the osprey development contract. he has brough millions of dollars of funding in the ways of jobs and revenue sources to the panhandle. in addition, in terms of morals, if you have ever worked in congress in dc, you would know that mac is one of the few who takes no handouts from lobbyist... none.

please don't be blinded by your personal feelings, look at his time wholistically and realize that we are blessed to be represented by a man like mac thornberry.

i don't live in the district anymore, so you don't have to worry about my vote.

i still think he was wrong. the longterm effects of the government's intervention is worrisome.

I have reading comprehension issues. I was in grad school in '04-'05. Hope you enjoyed your time in Lechner. I definitely did.
