hello,

I'm getting desperate and thought I'd reach out to the Aggie community. I've GOT to find a job. I'm a civil engineer with a PE. I spent the last year in Afghanistan working at Bagram Air base and came back in October and have had no luck finding a job. I've started doing some engineering work on my own, but it's just not enough to keep me busy or pay the bills. At this point I'll take anything. I've gotten to where I'm applying for fast foods and anything else I can find.

I've done tons of construction type work, and am not at all afraid of manual labor or anything else. If anyone knows of any type of work at all just let me know either here or in my email tony52398@yahoo.com

Thanks everyone, I'm at the end of my rope here.

Good luck to you, sorry I can't offer more than that.

Where are you? Your profile says Dallas. Are you still there? Knowing that might help folks.

I think I remember your posting a while back. All the obvious ones like Pantex, Xcel, Bell, Texas DOT, etc. come up dry for you?

USDA out at Bushland has a few Ag Engineers, but that may be too far out of your line.

Have you checked with WTAMU? They're big into wind energy and there is a real boom coming with those right now. There's going to be a big project SW of Canyon. And there's also a big honkin' transmission line coming in (Panhandle Loop) to service it.

EDIT: Whoops, sorry, I can't read, apparently.

Dwight & Mary Ellen Brandt are Aggies and good folks. Don't know if you've tried them, but you might go in just for advice.

By that, I mean go visit with Dwight and see if he has any contacts for you or knows of any openings. He'd probably feel less pressure that way than if you were specifically asking for a job. But you could leave him a resume, too.

thanks Canyon. the Brandts and I have a long and interesting past....... My college roommate worked for them for a while and after a while so I gotta rule them out. Maybe I could ask about info though...

Okay...I've had good experiences with them, but I never directly hired them or worked for them.

But I agree, even if there is a little conflict, he would probably give you leads to others.

Don't know how qualified you would be for this. Engineering degree wouldn't hurt. The biodiesel plant in Guymon, Ok has an opening for a maintanance supervisor.

Thanks for the help guys, I got a job a few days ago. An environmental company that I interviewed with weeks ago and I had given up on made me a great offer.
