I like winter weather and have really missed good Northers blowing in since I have left and moved south.

Please post some pics of the conditions up there at the moment.

It is just really cold and windy here north of Austin. No moisture frozen on the ground. Just miserably cold.

1) Been too darn cold to get out and take pics.

2) In this part of the Panhandle, we only got 1" of really dry stuff, so it's not very photogenic.

This phrase has always made me chuckle. Is the "dry stuff" only 50% water as compared to the "wet stuff" being 100% water?

That is what sucks here. It is just dang cold and windy. No winter moisture to look at while trying to live through it.

Now it is snowing south of us, but not here.

The wet stuff hits the ground and sticks. The dry stuff falls in Amarillo and lands in Lubbock.

I guess if I had grown up in Turkey/Quitaque I would be a former Patriot.

For now, I am just an old Panhandle boy who misses home during the winter months.

We're supposed to get snow tonight and tomorrow morning, so hopefully you'll get some pictures. I have a newborn, so I won't be getting out in it to take many pictures, but I'll try to snap a few of the neighborhood.

No pictures but just to jog your memory--the ice on the stock tanks was about 10 inches thick this morning. The pipe was frozen so all of the water was coming up under the tower which means the ice will be thicker in the morning. The show pigs won't eat because they are cold and the San Antonio show is next week. The kids want to play outside but they are just getting over the flu. BUT--the stew is in the crockpot and it is pretty outside so it may be worth it. Tell the family hi for me and you know you are always welcome to come up and help me just to enjoy the lifestyle agian. All that said, it could always be worse.

Yup those are of my house this morning. The streets in my neighborhood were under about nine inches of snow, but I got out to some other streets and all it looked like was a dusting.

I remember 'hot slopping' pigs twice a day before the FW show. It was a really cold winter my senior year and we had to do it for a couple of months to put the weight on. It was great times with my Grandfather though.

If it was not impossible to get there from here during a storm. I would definitely come give you a hand.
