Is it just me, or is this the worst spring in a long time? Seems like more wind and dust than normal, and obviously we are hurting for rain. Hoping to get a rain soon!

As a season, spring is highly overrated.

Correction- As a season, spring IN THE PANHANDLE is highly overrated.

Spring in my home state of Tennessee is wonderful- green grass, flowers, rain (of course, there can also be pollen and tornadoes).

Agreed! Spring is my LEAST favorite season in West Texas. Its pretty nice usually in Central Texas in the spring. West Texas weather is better in the summer and fall.

The fall back home is the best season by far. The sky just has a different look to it and the air feels different somehow.

But it's also hard to beat the 3 days of pretty spring weather when the wind isn't blowing 40+.

I understand that thus far this year has less rain than any year recorded.

Maybe in some places.

Up here in the top of the Panhandle, we've had some rain. Not near enough. But some.

There have been years where we've had no precipitation at all by this time of the year. So even in the worst case, we can't have less than that.

I think we had something like 4 inches for the entire year not long ago. That was really bad.

Sherman County has had about 1/2 " thus far, and that is equal to the 1/2 " we had from Aug. to about a week ago.

This year, dryland wheat did come up around here but it is unlikely that much, if any at all, will be harvested.

Just disastered all of our dryland wheat. Cows being turned in on it ASAP cause the grass isn't growing.

Just got 2 inches of rain here in the northern panhandle this morning.

Things are starting to look up maybe?

It's La Nina, but it's supposed to be ending soon. Got about a half inch of rain this morning.

While watching the 10 day forecast this morning ( full of triple digit days) my husband said "hmm, pretty sad when the 2nd COOLEST day of the forecast is the FIRST day of summer."

It's miserable.
