An outfit that sells gypsum to oil drilling outfits for roads and pad sites has made an offer to my family for mining our property. I'm really having difficulty nailing down what the fair market price is. Our neighbor has a pit on his property, but he will not tell me what he's being paid per ton. I called the references they gave me, which were all in South Texas, and they were all getting two to three times as much as they offered us.

I'm sure that the market varies from area to area depending on supply and demand. I was hoping someone might have some experience with this, or perhaps point me to a reference where I could get a ballpark range...just to be sure we're not being taken advantage of.
