Was returning home from Colorado yesterday w/ wife and daughter. Decided to take highway 56 from Springer, NM to Clayton to miss the road construction on the road between Raton and Clayton.
Was traveling east of Springer at 63 mph - yes I was 3 miles over the posted speed limit.
Got pulled over and was cited - NOT for 63 in a 60, but for 83 in a 60.
The trooper was kind enough to offer me the option to plead guilty and simply mail in my check.
I told him I would be happy to do so if he wrote the citation for 63 in a 60.
He declined and held firm at his embellished charges. I don't have a good feeling regarding my chances with the magistrate in Roy, NM.

What was the trooper's name? There's a guy in that area known to be a jerk. It's ridiculous that the speed limit is 60 on that stretch anyway--wide open, straight as it can be and no traffic.

should have been pulled over on Sunday by New Mexico Trooper going 75 on that highway but the other Texan going 100mph drew too much attention!!

Trooper's last name was Flowers

Magistrate is out of her office until 8-1.
Have another week to stew and wonder how much this will set me back.

Tell them you want to go to court. I doubt they will be able to get enough jurors for a trial.

that road runs through colfax and union counties , but roy is not in either. I do like th elittle store in gladstone.

Regardless of where the road goes, the judge was in Harding County (Roy, New Mexico).
Nice lady - did not dismsiss, but gave a break on the fine. Made me wonder if she questioned the trooper's charges.
As I told her, I could not have bought the gas to and back from Roy for the amount of the fine.
