Many of you know I had to return from overseas and have been in Amarillo for the last year assisting as a caregiver my 86 year old mother who has had pneumonia 3 times in the past year. For those of you keeping up with my saga with my mother, here is the latest:

We are now back in Amarillo after a nice visit over the Christmas/New Year's holidays to my home in Greenwood, Arkansas – about 20 minutes south of Fort Smith, Arkansas… This is the first time in over 30-years my mother has left Amarillo and returned to the area where she grew up.

And, the trip went smoothly – weather perfect for this time of year… and mother is actually doing better – at least spiritually – ie., her spirits are very much improved…

Surprise, Surprise After visiting and getting to see the area, she has decided to move to Arkansas to be closer to the rest of our “family” - this decision was made AFTER her doctors here in Amarillo said that her "breathing" and OX issues and "Quality of Life" would be much better at a lower altitude - Amarillo being at about 4,000 feet and the Arkansas River Valley at about 400 feet.

Thus, her home for over 50-years (in Olson Park at 5309 Emil) will soon be going on the market. It is 1,883 sq ft, 4-BR, 2-Bath, all brick with new Metal Tile Roof, new electrical, new plumbing, new carpets, updated tile bath, countertops, etc. In tip top shape. Houses in the area/neighborhood are actually selling in the $80/sq ft price range. She is going to put her house on the market in the same price range given that her home has many "extras" and should compete favorably with those that are not updated. If anyone is interested she can offer a special deal to avoid realtor fees and split the savings.

Tax records for the property can be found here: http://www.prad.org/CamaDisplay.aspx?OutputMode=Display&SearchType=RealEstate&ParcelID=061100059000R

Just wanted to say Olsen is a great neighborhood and anyone would be lucky to live here! My wife and I live on Nebraska and absolutely love running through the area this house he has for sale is in.

Bob: If you need any help with loading a moving truck or anything at all we are very close and I wouldn't mind helping you just let me know.

I grew up just down the street in the 5500 block of Emil.

I can also vouch for the Olsen neighborhood. My parents retired to this neighborhood and both of my sisters and their families still live there.

Thanks for the endorsement guys. The Harmony-Teckla cross roads to Emil is one of the nicest in town.
My mother moved into the house at 5309 Emil the year I was a fish at A&M and has lived in the house for 51 years since it was new and now has moved in with me to avoid assisted living.
Her house on Emil is now listed with Coldwell-Banker, Cathy Bailey - we have known Cathy all her life and trust she will do a good job. House is super clean, been well maintained with 50-year roof, new ceramic tile work, all plumbing has been replaced, etc., and listed priced to sell quickly.
