Has anyone seem much in the way of dead birds on the ground in the area?

My oldest brother is currently in the hospital in Amarillo with West Nile Virus. It's caused a rather strong encephalitis that is affecting him pretty hard.

I just got off of the telephone with a woman who lives about five miles from the farm. She said that she has picked several dead birds up from around the house and thrown them away. This past Monday, she had her husband take her to the doctor because she was feeling really bad and had a bad case of vertigo. She also said that she knows several others in the area with what appears to be the same thing. Whether or not that is due to West Nile Virus remains to be seen.

I'm on my way out to see if I can find some Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) at Tractor Supply in Guymon. I hope they have it. I'm then going to empty the stock tank near the house, clean it out, refill it, and put some Bti in the tank to hopefully kill any mosquito larva that may be introduced into the water.

Bt is more for Lepidotera larva, is it not (moths and butterflies)????? And TSC sucks for chemicals. Better luck at your local Ace hardware or garden supply.

Sorry about your brother. Have found one dead dove near some equipment, figured it just flew into a tractor window or something. Certainly no mass kills.

The doctors say it may be February before he can come home.

A family friend died of west Nile last week. 67 and in good health

Wife just got diagnosed last week with west nile. We are in Amarillo. Luckily she hasn't been too affected symptoms wise just achy and dizzy. Also had a migraine for 4 days. We walk every night in the Olsen area so we assume that is where she got bit.

My brother is now in the Texas VA Home on Tascosa. I'm hoping that he isn't there too long before he can come home.

The Texas VA Home is a pretty nice place. Very clean and calm. I'm quite impressed with it.
