I'll be taking a client to lunch in Lubbock in a few weeks. I'd appreciate input on places to go near TT Health Sciences Center. TIA

Fast foods and chains out the wazoo in that general area and on University near the tceh campus. First sit-down place that comes to mind is Gardski's on Broadway east of campus. But I haven't spent a lot of time in LBB lately, so maybe others will chime in. In the meanwhile, try trip advisor dot com.

EDIT: Fixed spelling of Gardski's

I'd recommend Orlando's on Ave Q. Italian joint.

There's also a Texas Roadhouse, BJ's Brewhouse, Chuy's and Longhorn Steakhouse on the south side of the loop. Between Slide and Quaker.

The restaurant scene in Lubbock sucks.

Thanks tyler. I can work with those suggestions.

And you too, Canyon for your update.

Come grab me too. Blue Sky is a good burger place right next to the HSC. Torchys is awesome but if it's a peak hour you'll be standing in line a long time.

Otherwise, I agree with the other guys.

Yep. Right across the street from the HSC. Best burger and onion rings in town, and great atmosphere.

Both of those have been gone for well over a decade. I miss those places.

And after One Guy, go get some Spanky's fried cheese for dessert...

The Brittany is the mall was my very first job.

And the cheese sticks at Spanky's are why I had to take blood pressure medicine in order to get my BP down to acceptable levels to go backpacking at Philmont.

Also, Lisa West also owns the Double Nickel Steakhouse, and they serve a cheesestick with every meal.

The restaurant scene in Lubbock sucks.

They've also added a Red Robin in that BJ's/Chuy's/Longhorn group.

I disagree with that assessment of the restaurant scene. There are some VERY good local fare, in addition to a zillion chains. Legend has it, although I'm not sure how true it is these days, that Lubbock has more restaurants per capita than any other city in the USA.
