I figured it would happen sooner or later, but probably later ...

And of course, there's the predictable response from certain people ...

quote:
A total of 1,002 signatures were needed to get each option placed on the ballot for Tuesday's election, and each received more than the required number needed. There was local opposition to both measures.

"Just because something was voted in, doesn't mean I have to stop saying it's wrong," said the Rev. Glen Stocklher, pastor of Bible Believers Baptist Church.

"There are a lot of laws that I think are wrong but we abide by them until we can change them."

Earlier this summer, Stocklher published a list of Canyon residents who signed the petition on the Bible Believers Baptist website as "Hypocrites for Booze in Canyon," which showed resident's names, addresses, birthdays and voter registration numbers.

I guess I'm a troglodyte, but I'm disappointed.

I'm no teetotaler and I'm fairly young, but I have to say I'm disapointed as well.

Low crime, family friendly town. Alcohol changes that. I understand all the pros and cons. I just enjoyed not having to deal with it.

I'm also not highly upset or throwing a fit.

I'd be surprised if this changes that too much, but I guess we will see. I wasn't passionate either way. I live outside the city limits anyway so I didn't even get to register a vote.

The availability of alcohol changes nothing about Canyon. Every single person in Canyon who wanted alcohol could get alcohol. They just had to drive 5 or 10 miles to do it. Trust me, I went to grad school there.

Availability always equals greater use. If I had to drive to Umbarger for a Dr Pepper and a candy bar, I'd weigh less.

Not really. I've bought exactly one six pack in Canyon since sales started in town.

And you know I'm talking about the aggregrate, not individuals.
