We are pretty blessed here that AMA has amazingly short times needed to clear TSA.

But what about lately? Is the funding sick-out adding tot the wait? Plan to travel March 26, hope this crap is over by then, but if not….

Also, if f anyone has been through LBB lately, feel free to add your comment

My wife flew out last Saturday March 14. Flight was around 11 am departure. She got there 1.5-2 hours early to make sure there were no issues and said she flew through security with no issues.

Not sure if anything has changed since then as it is my understanding that this week might have been the first time TSA agents missed getting paid

My mom flew out on a 9:00am flight out of AMA today. Said the lines were business as usual and the TSA folks were polite and helpful. Told her to enjoy because flying back home on the 31st out of IAH is going to be a different story

I was trying to figure out why TSA wait times are so bad at the big airports, as the news says only 10% are calling out sick

Maybe the national average is 10%, but todayI read that the sick-out rate is 45% at the Houston airports, and they may be intentionally slowing work as well

Been listening to KGNC Radio today. They are collecting gift cards for Amarillo TSA employees.

Amarillo appears to be fully staffed. Radio guys said they talked to one employee (maybe named Kim?) who mentioned she was suppose to be on vacation this week. They asked why in the world she was a t work, she replied,

"Because my team needs me."

Kudos to Amarillo TSA, and a giant middle finger to the scum calling in sick in Houston.

Quote:

Tim Butler and Michael J. Stevens were inspired by KGNC listener Tony to start a collection of Gift Cards to help Rick Husband International Airport TSA workers who are not getting paid due to the government shutdown. We are inviting our listeners to purchase $20-limit gift cards that can be used for gasoline, groceries or restaurant food....

There are approximately 54 employees at the TSA here in Amarillo. We will take the gift cards to the Airport when we receive the first 54 and every employee will get one. It would not be fair to take less than 54 and leave someone out.

4:45am on Thursday the 26th. We cleared TSA about as quickly as we could walk through. No lines at all. TSA workers were pleasant and helpful.
