I am getting a new plan in November. I live in College Station but go back home to the panhandle during breaks. What works best in the Dumas/Amarillo area?

I like Cingular. Sprint coverage used to fall off really badly in the rural areas away from the Interstate, so check the coverage out where you intend to use it.

I had cellular one, but the coverage in south Randall county was awful. Cingular is much better.

i have to go w/ sprint on this and here's why. my company has about 130 lines w/ them and we are all over the panhandle, and corporate has them in amarillo.

the coverage and consistency is FANTASTIC....

we took cingular phones and did a test and the phones died all over the place, dropped calls, etc.

we couldnt have a conversation from Amarillo to Hereford w/o dropping the calls 2-3 times (not great for business)

so we switched and have been w/ them for almost 2 years.

would love for (best phone selectin) move up here though too - my friends that travel up here that have verizon have terrible signals, terrible.

most of my friends have switched from Cingular to Sprint in this area as well.

I frequently travel from Lubbock to Amarillo and have never had a problem with the Sprint service.

My vote is Cingular. I had SOO much trouble with Sprint in College Station and just north of Amarillo (Borger), but I've since switched to Cingular and it works everywhere!

I live in Spearman and have had Cigular in the past which worked great until they sold their towers in this area.
It got to where I could call another cell or out-of-area, but I could not call any land lines up here.
There is simply NO Sprint service up here north of Amarillo, so don't waste your time/money.
I have switched to Alltell, but I am having issues using that carrier in metro areas down south (ie: Ft. Worth, Dallas, SA, B/CS...or anywhere Verizon has the prominant tower system)

I had alot of trouble with Sprint as well so my vote is with Cingular. I switched over after my contract ended and have been very pleased.

Cingular will get you better coverage in and around Amarillo
