Actually, I'm just curious if anybody has tried "Big Earls".

Been there twice. Was not impressed with the food but I did enjoy going to a place in Canyon and enjoying a cold beer with my meal. I have heard he has changed chefs twice and has redone the menu. I hope he does well.

Heard it's been a real slow start. Surprising, since it is supposedly the same ownership as the (successful) Feldman's.

Where is this place and what is their selection?

It's "Big Earl's BBQ and Tacos" or something like that. It's hidden at the north end of town, behind the old KFC (now Thai Spice) and south of the United Supermarket.

Many of the early visitors were unimpressed and thought it overpriced. I haven't been yet, but I will probably give it a shot.

I always thought the location was strange. Not in a high traffic or nice part of town. And hidden behind the old KFC.

Feldman's is still the best "all around" place in town. Pepitos for Mexican food, Thai Kitchen for "Chinese" and Fat Boys for BBQ. I really like the folks that run Hil's, but their hamurgers are not my favorite. However, it's worth going for the onion rings, if nothing else.

They took off all of the mexican food from the menu at Fieldmans. I actually think that the salsa and enchiladas at Fieldmans were better

Has Feldmans' finished their renovations? I have yet to try the place out as I always hit it when the wait is about 30 minutes.

Feldman's is open again. I think the real reason for the closing was so they could get "Big Earl's" up and running.

I've been to Feldman's since their "renovations", and see nothing different. I stand by my guess that they were just busy getting "Big Earl's" going.

I have heard some good reports since then, so perhaps Big Earl is getting his stuff together.

In the meantime, the new restaurant has apparently been given the green light to build on east 4th avenue.

More importantly, they will be serving beer.

I'm one of the old fuddy-duds that would just as soon see Canyon stay 100% dry. But I'm not throwing a fit about it, either.

Big Earl's is dead. Closed up shop. Cruddy food to begin with + cruddy location = down in flames.

Looks like they sunk a decent amount of money into the building. Yikes!

Maybe they should have spent more on food and cooking staff.

Got an e-mail the other day stating the building was available. That sure didn't last long.
