I'm in Amarillo/Canyon for a wedding. Tomorrow I have nothing to do as the ladies are going to be doing their girly stuff.

I'm not very familiar with the area, so I dont know too many points of interest. What are a couple of cool things to do to waste 4-5 hours? Hitting up Taco Bueno is already on my list.

Eat the 72 oz steak at the Big Texan.

If it were me, I would waste 4-5 hours in the Gander Mountain.

I wouldn't bother with Big Texan. Adequate steaks for a premium price. Eat at Feldmans in Canyon for an all-around restaurant, or Pepitos in Canyon or Tacos Garcia in Amarillo for Mexican food.

I'm guessing the wedding is Saturday night, too bad, since every first Saturday is cruise night.

Go out to CanyonAgs farm and run the rolling cultivator.

cruise 45th street in a suped up honda, toyota, nissan, etc. or obnoxiously loud american muscle car. or a huged lifted truck/suv. the high school girls will come to you and they're easier than taking candy from a baby.

Palo Duro Canyon SP is a great place to ride bikes or go for a run.

We ended up visiting Palo Duro for a few hours, very nice.

And Taco Bueno is top notch (as far as fast-fake mexican food goes). I try to go there whenever I get a chance. Which isn't very often...

I have an old high school friend whose wife works there. If the rest of them are like my friend's wife then I don't know how that place stays open.

Not that I've been, but I pass it on my way to work, and just fyi, Jaguar's has changed its name to Cheetah's.

Count me in for running the rolling cultivator.

Palo Duro Canyon ---- hike to Lighthouse Rock (3-4 hours round trip going easy). BTW, the only two people who have documented evidence of climbing Lighthouse Rock are my old friend, Geary McCauley, and me (April 1960, documented in Amarillo Globe-News).

I wasn't prepared for the hiking, but decided next time I go out there, I'd be taking the hike to lighthouse rock.

I did enjoy it maroon. And looking up info on Marsh gave me something to read up on while I sat in the airport.

And I've just been contacted by my boss and given incredible news. A Taco Bueno is going up in Conroe 5 minutes from my apt.
