to get a good steak in Midland/Odessa from someplace other than the backyard grill?

I'm starting to lose hope.

I can't tell you where to get one outside of places that have "Steakhouse" in the name.

Maybe you should list the places that have failed you and someone can list an alternative.

Have not been in years since I left the PB but no luck at Wall Street downtown? May sound odd but what about the high end restaurant in the Hilton? Is the Barn Door still around in Odessa? Not sure how they would be. Hey Red if you come to CS for the Tech game this year we have a number of good steak joints in of all places good ole B/CS!!

My wife and I love Wall Street. It's one of our favs. I understand it's shares ownership with Mac's Bar & Grill in Arlington, which along with Olenjack's is probably our favorite dining establishment.

I did order a ribeye last time at Wall Street, and while it wasn't bad, it probably wasn't a half inch thick. It's impossible to produce a medium rare steak of that thickness.

We've tried Cattle Baron and Cattleman's, and I've had folks recommend various chains, but I'll confess to not being much on ordering a steak at a chain restaurant.

I'm not necessarily asking for Del Frisco's or Bob's, but I do enjoy going out for a good steak on occasion.

I've had some really good prime rib and a steak or two from "The Bar"

I almost mentioned "The Bar" too but was not sure if they still served steaks. Again it has been a number of years since I have been back in Midland. Hope to make a trip this August.

Grew up here, and have been back about a month now.

Haven't made it by The Bar yet, but will make a point to do so.

The Bar has also added a nice outdoor patio area. Great place to hang on those nice West Texas evenings!!

Last time I was in Odessa (February) Barn Door was still open. Pretty good steak, but I did prefer Cattleman's in Midland.

This is west texas, some of the best steak your gonna get and want out here is on the grill in somebody's backyard.

I know what I'm getting from the grill, at least from my own.

I do, however, enjoy going out for a good steak on occasion.
