Howdy,

I'll be graduating in May with an Animal Science degree and I am lookin for a Ranch manager/foreman job within a couple hrs of Del Rio, my focus is Beef Cattle but Ive also been around sheep, goats, and hunting my entire life. Thanks in advance for any info/help.

Make sure you check the classifieds in Livestock Weekly. They always have several ranch jobs listed. You may be able check them out online without subcribing.

Check out agcareers.com too

I agree with the Livestock Weekly advice. Since it's based out of San Angelo they would be most likely to list jobs that are within a couple of hours of Del Rio.

You might check with the Rocker B Ranch located near Barnhart. They are strictly cattle and run a lot of cows on a lot of country. I don't know about a manager/foreman job with them, or any other big ranches. You generally have to work your way into those positions. However, with the ever increasing number of absentee landowners, you might find something like you want on a small or mid sized ranch.

You might also check with the AgriLife Extension Agents in the counties you have in mind. They are likely to keep their ears to the ground as far as job openings on ranches.

Don't know if he has anything available, but Chico Denis in Vancourt Texas is one of the best ranch Owner/managers in West Texas. His operation consists of the large ranch with cattle and sheep along with farming operations and a large feedlot operation. He also has an interest in the Ranchers Lamb of Texas packing house for lamb and goat products. If you want to talk to him for advise and connections let me know by pm.
