My girlfriend is coming into town this weekend. We usually have fun in San Angelo, but I thought I would turn up the fun and head out somewhere for the weekend. Where should we go? Are the caverns a good place to visit?

they're not super impressive compared to Carlsbad by any means, but they're fun.

If I were looking for a day or two excursion I'd head to Mason/FBurg area.

That's just me. I love the Hill Country.

Sonora caverns I thought were way cooler than Carlsbad - I would ditto Mason - excellent mexican food in a little place and their winery next door across the street from the courthouse

Fredricksburg and The Hilltop cafe

quick run out to Marathon and stay at the Gage hotel

check out the Xbar ranch in Eldorado, they have some relatively "rustic" lodging as well as some pretty nice cabins on their place -

then you got the exotic destinations of Abilene, Sweetwater and Big Spring.....

but seriously, a trip up to Perini's in Buffalo Gap and stay at their guest house might be a fun excursion

the Hilltop in F'burg is great, everytime I've been there some guy either gets on the piano or brings in a guitar and plays...

Go to Medina and buy a bag of apples or cider from the Cider Mill Country Store, then head west to Lost Maples State Park and hike. If your gf is the outdoorsie type, you're a romantic hero after that day....
