Not that they have fielded decent teams, but Why must Angelo have to travel to the land of sand fleas for football.

On top of that look at what they did to San Angelo Lake View. In a CenTex district with Killeen, Waco, et al.......

Someone in Angelo pissed somebody off.....

A lot of people on the west side of the Metroplex glad Abilene is out of their district--"a long drive just to get your butt whooped!"

while i do think it plays a bit of a factor... i imagine Cooper coming back up to 5A was the biggest.

Correct, it was Cooper back in 5A. They did lower the number of students required for 5A by about 20 to make cooper fit again.
The travel for district was killing Midland, Odessa and Amarillo schools. Four hours one way for a game was murder.

pooooor 5A schools with their 4 hour drives.

When i was at Wall they screwed Reagan County and Ozona by taking them out of 2-2A and sticking them in a district with Van Horn, Alpine.... and Anthony. Do you know where the heck Anthony is?

I remember reading something about that drive to Anthony.
When I say killing, I mean it was killing the athletic budgets. District 2-5A this year consisted of 2-Amarillo, 3-Lubbock, 2-Odessa, 2-Midland and San Angelo. Not too bad for Lubbock since they were in the middle, but the rest were spending a fortune on travel for all the boys and girls sports programs.
