This board was really helpful for my trip to San Angelo. I'm going to Midland for a short work trip next month. Any recommendations for good local restaurants? tia

Gerrardos Casita on Big Spring - Mexican food
Jorges on Midland Dr. - Mexican food
Murrays on Wadley for Sandwiches/Soup/Curly Fries
Wall Street Bar & Grill on Wall St. (downtown) - for upscale steak, etc.
Rosas on Big Spring - Mexican food (fast food but good if you have not been there; much better in Midland than in College Station)

All previously mentioned are in my rotation. I might also add:

Cancun Bar & Grill - not Tex-Mex, but very good authentic mexican food. Steaks aren't bad either. Hell, I go there just for the corn queso.

Luigi's - I wouldn't say there's anything extraordinary about the food, but it's never disappointing, and the atmosphere is nice.

Definitely Wall Street. My favorite place when we're in WT.

Wall Street has some of the best fried shrimp I've ever had and I grew up on the coast. The Gumbo is the best.
All the major chains are on the loop if that is what you want.
If you like baseball, check out the Midland Rockhounds while you are here.

That was the first thing I checked on but they're on the road.

Corn queso at Cancun is good. I do not have an entree that I go there for but the corn queso does attract me every time I am in town.

I prefer Dos Compadres for Tex-Mexican Food on North Garfield in Midland. I say West Texas' bad Mexican food is better than most area's "best".

Go to Martinez Bakery south of downtown Midland on Florida for lunch and get a Super Torta or Beef Tacos with lime and Avocado. Either one will fill anyone up.

Michael's BBQ - was widely known by Air Force pilots coming to town for a quick Charcoal Burger before they fly back to their base. One on Missouri has hundreds of model airplanes, but is the older facility. The other newer place is on North A Street.

Garcia's Burritos on Lamesa - one of my weekly stops when I was in high school.

Shogun on Garfield for Hibachi. A little pricey at Dinner but I've heard the lunch is reasonable.

I find Shogun to be run down and kind of dirty.

I much prefer Bushido, but it's a personal choice thing. They are building a new Japanese steakhouse by Grande Stadium.

I love the stew meat burritos at Jumburrito, but the other offerings are average to me. Too much like fast food. There are so many other little hole in the wall places to get a good breakfast burrito.

I like Oscar's and El Burrito.

Had forgotten about El Burrito, it was a staple in my diet while in high school at MHS, also if you go there go next door to the bakery (cant remember the name) for desert.

Get the smothered burrito. It will change your life.

Tampico Inn (best sour cream enchiladas)-off of Wall

Bob's Better Burger is hands down the best burger around. Burgers, Fries, Cherry pies is terrible, but the bread is really good
