Anybody know of some good companies that do dirt work with dozers etc. We have been trying for a while to find somebody to work on the tank we'd like to build near the house on the ranch but it seems impossible to find anybody when you mention excavating for a LARGE stock tank

Kirk Griffin Construction out of Eldorado could probably do it. I know they're pretty hooked up doing oilfield work right now, but they're in the area and do good work.

Kirk is way too busy to do a stock tank. He's staying full time around Sterling City at the moment.

I don't think they're still running very much dirt equipment, but try D.D. Poynor in Big Lake anyway.

Ask for PeeWee and tell him Shawn told you to call.

You can also try Stuart Seidel with SW Seidel Construction. He lives south of San Angelo. (325) 896-2415.

WestTexAG, you know Kirk? Are you in Eldorado? My company had some production between Eldorado and Menard that we sold a few months ago. That's where I met Kirk. Now he does our dirt work in Glasscock as well as a couple of other companies. Kirk's a good guy.

All I know are oilfield dirt contractors. J&J Services out of San Angelo was doing some dirt work several months ago. I use their pulling units, but have never used them for dirt work. They're good people as well.

If you talk to PeeWee at D.D. Poyner, make sure you confirm anything with someone else there. PeeWee sounds like a nice guy, but sometimes he forgets. I've used, and still do use their forklift for unloading casing. They're another good company.

I would stay away from Tom Thorp out of Mertzon.

Nope, not from Eldorado.
I'm actually a Poynor from Big Lake so I worked in that industry quite a bit, and know a fair amount of people in the business. Kirk is one of the best "honest guys" out there, but he's extremely busy chasing the WOlfBerry locations right now as EVERY contractor should be. PeeWee is my granddad, I agree that he is getting old and forgetful. He hasn't done a huge amount of dirt work in over a decade, after my dad passed away leaving him without a legitimate dirt construction foreman. His passion though is dirt work, so I'm betting he'd do a job like this one. I'd 100% stay away from Tom Thorpe's company though as he's quite the opposite of Kirk Griffin in the honest guy department.

You rent the dozer and I will build it for you.. That is if you don't mind the excavated dirt being used around the pond...

TAMUallen,
I agree completely with everything WesTex said. I live on the Crockett/Upton county line and most everyone is chasing locations and roadwork. Im a wildlife biologist/rancher/oilfield hand/etc. I've built a few ponds and know some guys that could do it and do a decent job. If you don't find someone, the best guy I know that's not lined up with oil field work is Luke Tillman out of Junction. 210-216-9304. If you have any other questions or need some help feel free to email me at eqranch@hotmail.com

Looks probable that we are going to be going with Oze Gonzales with Custom Dozer Services out of Angelo. Anybody had experience with him?
