I stray from TexAgs for a few weeks, actually getting some work done at my summer job (something foreign as a student worker), and look what happens. They start a West Texas forum for me and my ilk.

As a proud Stamford future and current Ag since 1986 (and a Munday future Ag for the two years of my life prior to that), this is good bull.

Not that I'm aware of. My dad went to school with some of the Hutchenses I think, but the aren't kin to a whole lot of Munday folk. Now go down the highway to Weinert and Haskell, and that's another story.

Hmmm, well it's a small world isn't it? I figured I was the only one on this board that had ever heard of Weinert, much less visited it. I don't know the Whites, but I'm going to have to ask my dad about this. Did you grow up in that area or just visit kinfolk?

Abilene, but all the in laws are from up there.

Know any of the Mayes in Stamford? Or Jerry Taylor, retired football coach?

I remember the Mayes', didn't really know them that well. I assume you're talking about Mrs. Mayes who taught piano forever (my sister took it from her for a couple of years), and Mr. Mayes who was the band director way back when.

And yeah I know Coach Taylor pretty well, he was still the head coach back in my junior high football days, and I see him around town, in the farm supply store, and at lunch all the time. He just got inducted into the Texas High School Coaches Hall of Fame a few weeks ago.

Coach Taylor was assistant to Jerry Thormalen at Abilene High in the mid 70's when I played there. One heck of a guy, I wasnt surprised when he got selected to the hall.
