I am from Miles, the next town over from Lowake and Rowena. Lowake will always be one of my favorite steakhouses. You should check it out if you ever drive through there.

It was the best steak house in Texas 50 years ago. Folks would fly in from out of town and land in the pasture out back. Always crowded even though Runnels County probably didn't have a thousand inhabitants at that time.

Keri, I would have to agree with you on this one. Skeet and I ate there last week, and it was awesome.

It's not all it is cracked up to be, but it is good. I've been there too many times to count and don't understand why some people get all worked up over Lowake.

I'm from San Angelo and that's where we went to eat before my senior prom.

it's pretty good...we would eat there after we got done thrashing miles or sometimes even christoval in football.

Just in the passed year it is under new ownership. He took it over from the previous owner who had done his very best to run the place into the ground. I know the new owner very, very well, and he is doing his best to turn it around. Lowake is attracting customers that haven't been in several years and word is getting out again.

If you happen to get by there before dove season is out, he has some pretty cool camo t-shirts that say "Lowake Steak House - since 1953".

Yup, I went to Central. I was class of 00. Class of 04 from a&m. My sister was class of 03 from Central though.
