You might be interested to know that one of your own, Wayne Hutchinson, was hired last night to be the new head football coach and athletic director down here in Stamford.

I haven't met him, but my dad is on the school board, and based on what my dad knows about him (he grew up in Munday), everything the board has been told about him by folks with Knox City connections, and how he came across during his interviews, I think we've got one solid football man and quality Christian guy to lead the Bulldogs back to glory.

Back in Old Army days (when I was in school), we owned Haskell quite a bit. Then ol' Josh Barbee got into high school, and the Indians have had quite a nice run with him at running back. It'll be interesting to see what they do now that the playbook can't consist of handoff Barbee right, handoff Barbee left, handoff Barbee up the middle.

You have any good info on whether or not Wylie is going to finally make the move up to 4A this year? They've been squeaking under the cut-off for years now.

Oh, in a connection to the Abilene Eagles, Hutchinson was secondary coach at AHS under Steve Warren before taking the Knox City job, something that definitely bodes well, and is quite encouraging, in my book.

yeah its looking like they will be above the 3A/4A cutoff this year. I hear they are preparing for the move up.

Many (Merkel and Clyde folks) are already celebrating, saying Wylie will finally get what it has coming to it. They forget that Sandefer has played mostly a 4A pre district schedule for the past 5 years, and done quite well.

Should be ALOT more travel for them if it happens, Brownwood, Stephenville, Big Spring and a couple of Wichita Falls/Lubbock 4A's are the closest to Abilene...
