Just got home from the Fisher County Chamber of Commerce banquet. Ranger (ret) Ray Martinez spoke, retelling the story of the UT Sniper (he was the one that took down Whitman), as well as some of his involvement in the Duval County election fraud investigation and other stories. He is a true West Texan.
Also, it is good to see the communities in our county come together to promote our area. We can work together! The 2nd annual Fisher County Boot Scoot & wild Hog Fest, with feature entertainer Gary P. Nunn, will be the 2nd weekend in October. Put it on your calendars.

FishrCoAg ... I am slow on the uptake these days and I may have missed an opportunity to make a great West Texas connection.

At the CofC banquet did you get a chance to visit with Ray Martinez on what he is doing in his retirement days?

We had a Trooper Martinez assigned to the Bryan DPS office in the 80s and early 90s who was a super nice fellow and a great friend. After this Martinez retired 7 or 8 years ago he started a family business collecting driftwood and weathered cedar tree stumps from ranches in the hill country and selling them to artists and taxidermists all over the world. Last time we visited a couple of years ago he reported the business was going great. ($30 for a tree stump!)

Same Martinez? --- about 5'8, 200 or so lbs, very good natured? In our 5 or 6 years visiting together I never thought to ask about a Fisher County or UT Sniper connection.

Not the same one, fossil. "Ranger Ray" lives in New Braunfels now, is retired.
