How long do you want to ignore this user?
Howdy! I am in the process of relocating to Midland/Odessa from Lubbock. I already learned (very quickly) that you work in Odessa and live in Midland. The housing market there right now is CRAZY, so needless to say, we are apartment hunting. I am looking at the Dakotas at Saddle Club and the Park at Caldera. Can anyone give me input? Also, both these places are in Santa Rita elementary, is this a good school? My son is in first grade, and I have to have an apartment in a good school. Thanks!

I can't help much with the school stuff, but I would caution you with respect to the Dakotas. My brother lived there for a couple of years. Good tenant, quiet, payed rent on time, ect.

The month before he moved out, his upstairs neighbor had a water leak that did a lot of damage in his apartment (ruined carpet, ect). He reported it to them, but long story short they didn't fix anything until after he left.

They kept his deposit AND billed him for almost $2000 more in damage. They reported him to a collection agency and did a lot of damage to his credit. He had to get a lawyer before it was all said and done.

Just be careful, and ALWAYS document things in writing and pictures/video if you can. I don't know if the management is the same as it was about 4 years ago, but just wanted to share his experience with that place.

FWIW I've heard that the Park at Caldera is pretty nice.

Basically, there are no apartment complexes in the area built after the mid-eighties here (with the exception of subsidized apartments), so you take what you can get. Would you be interested in a rent house? My buddy works in rentals over in Midland and I can give you his info if you would like.

I stayed at the Dakotas briefly. They were ok for a short term stay, but I would never recommend them for a long term housing option.

In the short while I was there, there was a water leak from my AC.
