My cousin’s son died from injuries he received in Iraq. He was in a second humvee when the lead humvee hit a road-side bomb. He was a medic, so he got out checking on the injured. He stepped on a second mine and lost his left leg and arm in the explosion. They got him stable and sent him to Brooke in San Antonio. Shortly after his arrival his organs were being attacked by an unknown virus. This virus decimated him one organ at a time. After his liver started to fail, they unhooked the life support and let him go to the Lord. My cousin Tonya is grieving for the loss of her first born son, along with being worried the anti-war protestors will show up at his funeral. The army has promised they will provide a human barrier and no one will be able to interrupt the service. Tonya and her husband Robin need lots of prayers, as they are not dealing with it very well. Of course, how do you deal with burying your child?

fuzzyfan ... Just so your family knows, folks throughout Texas and this country share your family's grief at the loss of you cousin's son. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family as a measure of our wish to share your burden.

quote:
Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:13

Your cousin's son gave his life going to the aid of his injured comrades-in-arms. Your family may take comfort in knowing this young man honored himself, his family and every person in this country in performing his duty in the way he felt it to be.

quote:
"And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.'"
- Isaiah 6:8

quote:
"I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom." - Abraham Lincoln
--From the Nov. 21, 1864 Letter to Lydia Bixby

I echo what others have said. Though I want to add, if they are truly worried about protesters, contact these guys ASAP:

Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement

The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security. If you share this respect, please join us.

We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn't matter where you’re from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect.

Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives.

1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.

2. Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protester or group of protesters.

We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.

To those of you who are currently serving and fighting for the freedoms of others, at home and abroad, please know that we are backing you. We honor and support you with every mission we carry out, and we are praying for a safe return home for all.

fuzzy, I've known your cousin for years from his shop over on S.14th. Top notch guy and very proud of his son. I cant imagine what he's having to deal with right now and dont want to. My Marine son is headed over later this year.

A small memorial is building on the door to his shop. It's a testament of how much his customers love him and his wife.

God bless your family.

Yes, they will be held this week. The Army did not want to publicise the time or date. They will release a full obit after the service. Thanks for all of the prayers.

The service went off without a problem. A group of veterans encircled the service with American Flags, so there were no problems. The Army, along with the 82nd Airborne members, provided our family with a wonderful service. Thanks for all of your prayers!
