It's been a tough week for my family and I. Just wanted to share and ask for prayers for a great family that I married into - may they be comforted in their time of loss.

Wayne was no aggie by degree, but he was one of those who converted late in life despite a family full of t-shirt t-sippers (ultimately converted by the fact that my wife left home after HS to go to A&M, where we met).

Gig 'em and God bless Papaw.

quote:
Walter Wayne Phemister
PHEMISTER, , WALTER WAYNE Loving husband, father and Papaw, was called Home to be with his Father on Sunday, July 1, 2007 at sunrise.

Born October 14, 1935 in Haskell County, Texas to Marvin and Myrtle Phemister, Wayne spent his childhood farming with his family. He was educated at Weinert schools and Abilene Christian University where he received his B.S., M.A., and post-Master's education.

A lifelong educator himself, Wayne's purpose in life was to shape and guide those whose lives he touched. He served as a teacher, coach, principal, and Sunday school teacher to thousands and took great joy in seeing their growth. He will live on through his students and family - young and old - who have been forever touched by his love, patience, and gentle hand. Wayne never knew a stranger. He loved to visit with friends, family and others. He always made a strong impression and will be remembered worldwide.

His favorite things, after God, family, and friends, included reading about history, woodworking, Texas A&M football, and gardening - especially his beloved roses. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Joseph Mark Phemister. Wayne is survived and will forever be loved and missed by: his devoted wife, Linda, of Rowlett; one sister, Lola Williams and husband, F.D., of Bertram; one brother, David Phemister, and wife, Peggy, of Weinert; his children: Rick Phemister and wife, Emmalee, of Haskell; Randy Phemister and wife, Lori, of Canyon; Melissa Bulls and husband, Clay, of Abilene; Lee Johnson and wife, Lori, of Houston; Lincoln Johnson of Groton, Connecticut; and Laura Chaumont and husband, Ronnie, of Friendswood; 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren will surely miss their Papaw. Visitation will be at Williams Funeral Home in Garland on Thursday, July 5 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be at Saturn Road Church of Christ in Garland on Friday, July 6 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to Boles Children's Home, 7065 Love, Quinlan, TX 75474; ph (903) 883-2204 or to the American Cancer Society for pancreatic cancer research. 972-276-5000 Williams Funeral Directors Over 120 Years of Family Service 1600 South Garland Avenue Garland TX

Ronnie, I've known Wayne for years, my mother in law grew up with him around Weinert. Then later on in life I met Clay and Melissa through church (two of the t shirt tsips you speak of)

What a neat guy. I also knew his mom up there in Haskell, one of the sweetest ladies I ever met.

God bless your family.

This is exactly why I posted it here, he's the kind of person who never knew a stanger and I knew if I put it out there somebody would know the family. Small world.

Thanks for the prayers.
