Yes this is a "my kid is adorable" story so be patient. Thought I'd put it on the GB but decided to torture my West Texas peeps instead.

My 8-year old son asked me why we say "chicken-and-rum, chicken-and-rum" while singing the War Hymn. Get it?

"Chigaroogarem,Chigaroogarem"

I am with the kid ... but I have thought for 60 years we were supposed to say "Chig-arag-arum" or "Chigger-Ag-arum." ??
