For those of you not connected to the A&M Club here, you have an opportunity to meet some Ags in the area while concurrently giving to the scholarship fund for El Paso future Ags. Here is what I received in an email:
"Howdy Aggies!
Well, Labor Day has come and gone. We now know who is and is not running for President of the United States . We have seen the old pigskin fly through the air in both the BIG 12 and NFL. The Aggies are off to a 1 and 0 start! Whoop! And, now in just two weeks, the Greater El Paso area will be visited by the United States Air Force Thunderbirds among other well known and exciting performers at the annual Amigo Airsho. This year’s air show promises to be one of the best shows in years! And right in the middle of it all will be the El Paso A&M Club’s Chalet! Complete with all you can eat BBQ, free flowing refreshments, and let’s face it – the best damn camaraderie in town!
But Ags, we have a problem – so far we have only sold or taken firm commitments for a little over one third of our available tables/tickets. This event is costing the club A LOT OF MONEY, and if we are not able to sell sell sell some more tickets/tables, then we are looking at taking a HUGE loss financially! As this is our one and only fundraiser for the year, this is the only means we have of raising money to fund our scholarship program. If we lose money on this project, not only will we not be able to give out scholarships, but we might not be able to afford the seed money necessary to operate Muster and some of our other non-fundraising projects.
In looking over the sales so far, there are an alarming few number of sales to you, our fellow Aggies. That means that most of our sales have been on the “corporate level” or sales of tables to companies. We need for you, those who love Texas A&M, those who bleed maroon, to stand up, support your A&M Club, and buy your Amigo Airsho Chalet Tickets. The cost is $50 for an adult, $40 for children 12-5 with under 5 getting in free! Why not get a big group of your family members together and get a whole table for $500 for 10 tickets (with cost adjustments for children)? Now is the time for every Aggie to stand up and either buy a ticket or sale a ticket. You know that it goes to a good cause – Aggie Scholarships! Whoop! The Airsho itself is a fantastic show and for $50 you get admission, parking, all you can eat and drink all day long . . . tell me that you can beat that deal anywhere else! Heck, we even make part of that tax-deductible (everything over the first $20 per ticket) so, what do you say? Bring your family one day and bring your business associates the next day!
Please show your Aggie Spirit, that Spirit that can never be told, and contact Ed Davis at Cappetto’s at (915) 566-9357 <edward@cappettos.com>, or Corbin Blackwell at (915) 298-4202 <corbin.blackwell@huntcompanies.com>, or Bill D. Hicks at (915) 491-0293 <bill_d_h@hotmail.com> for your tickets today!
We also are still looking for some people to help out in the Chalet on Sunday; take a turn at working in the Chalet making sure that the food line is stocked and ice chests are full of drinks!"
Hope some of you can come out.
