Any of you folks know about a off shore fishing tour or day trip our of Padre? I am going to be down there at a condo during the week of July 4 and I'd like to maybe spend a day doing that with my brother in law and his sons and my daughter.

So something kid friendly would be ideal, but if you don't know about anything like that maybe just something me and B-I-L could do and bring back some fish to cook and show off would be nice. Any suggestions?

4th of July at the Island is a MAD-HOUSE!!! If you are into party boats and whatnot there are a couple of them down there that do regular offshore snapper trips.

Might want to try Osprey charters in South Padre.

I'll be down there as well during that time. I did a bay fishing trip on some big boat. It was ok, but caught only whiting. Hit me up later, I may split a redfish guide with you.

I think you would have more fun going in the morning to catch reds and trout. When everyone gets their limit you will have plenty of good fish to cook or take them to a local restraunt (not a chain) and they will cook them how ever you would like. I use Jim's pier and their guides. Also it is only a half day 5:30 am till around noon. There will be someone at the pier to clean them for you also. I would sure go ahead and make reservations because they will book up fast, especially July 4.

Have Dirty Al's cook it for you.

We take my mother in law to SPI a couple of times a year and I wanted to eat at Dirty Al's. I had read that it burned (a while back)and was wondering whether it was back open yet or not.

Anyone know for sure?

I just got back from SPI and you should check out the rib special at Louie's Back Yard. Half a rack of ribs and fries for $6.99 on Sun and Thurs. Best ribs I've had in a long time!

Ok. I live on the island and for family fishing we always use Captain Murphy's. They are a home grown...family business that takes very good care of families! They will clean whatever you catch for you. IT is strictly bay fishing for fun...they have a deep sea boat for serious fisherman also. For the Friday night dolphin watch and fireworks watching we use their larger boat..Murphy's Law. I think their number is 761-2764

Dirty Als caught fire. BUT he opened two new restaraunts....they are good...but not the same.

So I ended up doing the Osprey half day charter thing off shore for Snapper.

I was sick as a dog. Threw up 5 times that I remember. One of the single worst experiences in my life.

My brother in law had a good time though. I caught two Red Snapper in 3 casts of my line, and was too sick to reel in the last one. Sick the rest of the time too. Probably fished about 15 minutes total.

It took me about 2 years of going out just about every other weekend before I stopped getting sick. You should have taken a dramamine or something if you had never been offshore before or don't go very often.
