Lugo's has been married to her second husband, Pedro Lugo, for 17 years.
But, over the past 4 months, police said their relationship was in turmoil and the couple had filed for a divorce.
Neighbors and friends told police Ms. Lugo had become a victim of verbal and emotional abuse.
And now, the man she once relied on for love and protection, is a person of interest in her disappearance.
According to Mission police spokesman, Lt. Martin Garza, evidence found inside the couple's Mission condo and inside his car suggests foul play.
Garza said Mr. Lugo has also left the country and won't return phone calls from investigators.
"We do know that he purchased a bus ticket on Monday to San Luis Potosi," Garza said. "This was at about 5:30 and he got on the bus around 7:30pm. We do have video of that and along with that video of his son."
